DC Fan Operating Circuits
Objectives
The objectives we will be covering in this presentation will be,

Components utilized
The fallowing components are utilized in our project,
1- One 220V to 12V step down transformer.
2- Four diodes (used to make bridge).
3- One capacitor of 1000 micro Farad.
4- One Regulator i.e. LM7812.
5- One variable resistor of 50k.
6- 4 LEDs.
7- One 12V DC operating Fan
8- 4 resistors of 1k each.
Working
220V AC is supplied to the transformer.
Transformer steps 220V AC to 12V AC.
Rectifier converts the AC to DC.
Capacitor creates the ripples in the waveform.
Regulator straighten the DC.
Variable resistor regulates the voltage, thus the speed of the fan regulated accordingly.
As the fan operates at 12V. The transformer is providing that 12V up front.
In this project, we have used regulator LM7812.
It has three terminals.
The pin configuration is as fallow
1st pin is for the input.
2nd pin is to ground.
3rd pin is for the output

The functioning of LED’s is only possible if we connect them parallel to fan, and even to other LED’s.
The four LED’s utilized and connected in the circuit are connected parallel to fan, thus the voltage for every component is same.
Four resistors of 1k each are connected to the each LED, thus providing them the right voltage to operate with, in stable form.
The main function of regulator is to straighten the DC.Regulator
In this project, we have used regulator LM7812.

Capacitor
The main function of the capacitor is to create the ripples. It kind of straightens up the DC somewhat.the capacitor charges and discharges, thus cause the ripples to create.Usually the charging time is less than that of discharging.The value of capacitor in our project is 1000 micro Farad.
Applications
The circuit is not that much complicated, yet it has some very important features.
It is majorly a power supply, where we placed Fan as load. The idea behind that was to make the cooling fan system for the laptop.
The feature of variable resistor is making its importance even more prominent as it can be used as DC supply for the components operating till 12V as the voltage can regulate accordingly.
The LED’s gives it a good looking view, as they can still operate even when the fan is off.
